Random Topologies and the emergence of cooperation: the role of short-cuts
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study in detail the role of short-cuts in promoting the emergence of cooperation in a network of agents playing the Prisoner’s Dilemma Game (PDG). We introduce a model whose topology interpolates between the one-dimensional euclidean lattice (a ring) and the complete graph by changing the value of one parameter (the probability p to add a link between two nodes not already connected in the euclidean configuration). We show that there is a region of values of p in which cooperation is largely enhanced, whilst for smaller values of p only a few cooperators are present in the final state, and for p → 1− cooperation is totally suppressed. We present analytical arguments that provide a very plausible interpretation of the simulation results, thus unveiling the mechanism by which short-cuts contribute to promote (or suppress) cooperation. Networks of Communities and Evolution of Cooperation
In this paper, we propose a new very simple mechanism supporting the emergence of cooperation in a population of memoryless agents playing a prisoner’s dilemma game. Each agent belongs to a community and interacts with the agents of its community and with the agents belonging to linked communities. A simple rule governs the dynamics of the system: a community grows (resp. decreases) if the aver...
متن کاملImpacts of Import Tariff Cuts on the Iranian Labor Market Structure: a Computable General Equilibrium Model Approach
Most debates about the role of tariff cuts on the level of employment and rate of wages in labor market have come out of well-known Hecscher â Ohlin and Stopler â Samuelson (HOS) theorems. Considering the fact that we have divided the workforce into skilled and unskilled labors the present paper assesses the impacts of tariff cuts on labor market indicators in Iran. To address these issues...
متن کاملGAME OF COORDINATION FOR BACTERIAL PATTERN FORMATION: A FINITE AUTOMATA MODELLING
In this paper, we use game theory to describe the emergence of self-organization and consequent pattern formation through communicative cooperation in Bacillus subtilis colonies. The emergence of cooperative regime is modelled as an n-player Assurance game, with the bacterial colonies as individual players. The game is played iteratively through cooperative communication, and mediated by exchan...
متن کاملCategories of lattice-valued closure (interior) operators and Alexandroff L-fuzzy topologies
Galois connection in category theory play an important role inestablish the relationships between different spatial structures. Inthis paper, we prove that there exist many interesting Galoisconnections between the category of Alexandroff $L$-fuzzytopological spaces, the category of reflexive $L$-fuzzyapproximation spaces and the category of Alexandroff $L$-fuzzyinterior (closure) spaces. This ...
متن کاملA new approach based on alpha cuts for solving data envelopment analysis model with fuzzy stochastic inputs and outputs
Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a widely used technique for measuring the relative efficiencies of homogenous Decision Making Units (DMUs) with multiple inputs and multiple outputs. These factors may be evaluated in fuzzy or stochastic environment. Hence, the classic structures of DEA model may be changed where in two fold fuzzy stochastic environment. For instances, linearity, feasibility a...
